Sundae of the farm

Planning has begun for the 2016 Sundae on the Farm. It will be held at Turning Point Dairy, LLC in the Town of Saratoga, New York Sunday June 12th from 12:00pm-4:00pm *please note this is a week ahead of Fathers' Day. Mark your calendars.....Please come it's a great event.

NY Ayrshire Scholarship

The New York Ayrshire Club is pleased to announce their 2016 Calf Scholarship Award. This award is open to youth 8 to 15 years of age as of January 1, 2016 who has demonstrated the interest and ability to develop an Ayrshire calf to her fullest potential and who will also grow through this project. The award will provide money to the selected youth that can be used to help purchase a Registered Ayrshire calf at a public auction. Past winners of this scholarship have had great success with their Ayrshire calves and have become active members both in the New York Junior Ayrshire Club and the National Junior Ayrshire Breeders’ Association. What an EGG size?

When you go to the grocery store and see egg size listed on cartons, what does that truly mean? What should I use for my recipes? should you use three medium eggs, two large eggs or a jumbo!? Today most recipes typically don’t mention egg size at all. Wish they did. Your recipe may just call for 2 eggs. They are usually referring to large eggs, and if you don’t use those it will affect the outcome of your baking. Oh now that’s why my daughter’s brownies don’t work. Having backyard chickens, two eggs are truly not equal, even though they are all equally delicious! The good news is that there really is an official range for egg size. It took me some time to find it but I did. When the grocery store sells you large eggs or an extra-large egg, they weigh the eggs carefully before packaging so you have no doubt about egg size.
